The academic conference Migration and Cultural Interaction in the Baltic Sea Region
International cooperation in the Baltic Sea region is often described as exemplary due to its multifaceted character and variety. The historic roots of the phenomenon will be considered at the academic conference Migration and Cultural Interaction in the Baltic Sea Region to be held on April 24-26, 2013 in Stockholm. Historians from Germany, Denmark, Latvia, Poland, Russia, the United States, Finland, Sweden, and Estonia will participate. Reports and discussions will be devoted to the interaction of migration and cultural processes in the European North in various historic epochs - from Middle Ages to our days.
The Conference of the Heads of the Baltic Sea states on environmental protection (Baltic Sea Summit) will take place in St. Petersburg, April 5-6, 2013
The conference is held within the Year of the Environment in Russia and the Russian Federation chairmanship of the Council of Baltic Sea States (CBSS) in 2013. A high-level segment for prime ministers of CBSS member countries will take place on the 5th of April. A Business and Financial Communities of the Baltic Sea States Forum will be held on the 6th of April. Ways of protection and restoration of the Baltic Sea ecosystem, public-private partnership as a clue for solving ecological problems in the region, and Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) are to be discussed in the course of the meeting.The meeting will conclude with adoption of the declaration of the conference.
The signing ceremony of 2 agreements in the framework of the Pilot Financial Initiative between VEB and KfW
After a successfull launch of the SME pillar of the PFI (110 mm USD loan) on 16th of November in Moscow, a substantial progress in the 2nd Tаrget area of activities, in the field of PPP, has been made on 12th of December in Stockholm. Within the framework of the Pilot Financial Initiative VEB and KfW have signed a new loan agreement. It will be offered to VEB by KfW in Russian Rubles with a tenor of 7 years in amount equivalent to 65 mm USD. This loan may become a new very important step in the implementation of PFI.
XI Annual Forum of Strategic Planning Leaders
On October 22-23, 2012 in St. Petersburg the XI Annual Forum of Strategic Planning Leaders will take place. The core theme of the XI Forum is the Potential for Integration. One of the key international events of the Forum 2012 is a Round Table "Integrated Development of Rural and Urban Areas: Experience of the Baltic Sea Region". The Organisers of the Round Table are VASAB Committee on Spatial Development in the BSR, Ministry of Regional Development of Russia, Committee for External Relations of Saint Petersburg, and International Centre for Social and Economic Research - Leontief Centre.

Intensive development of and advances in information and communication technologies (ICT) and other electronic communication means; their growing integration and compatibility with the global Internet; Cyberspace with no territorial boundaries; digital inclusion – all the mentioned factors provide children with various information conducive to their learning and development and simultaneously create threats to child safety online and do harm to their health and development.

Kaliningrad, 22 November, 2012 - The International Conference "Fostering Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the Baltic Sea Region: Financing, Public Private Partnership, Innovations" took place in Kaliningrad on November 22. Its objective was to focus attention of the small and medium business, financial institutions and authorities on long–term financing and support to SMEs in the sphere of modernization and innovation in the Baltic Sea region.
